
Rajkot: The manager of Gondal company that deals in spices was booked for allegedly stealing Rs 2 crore from the company by diverting stocks of cumin. A complaint was filed by the company owner, Piyush Patel, against his long-serving manager, Gobar Singh Rajput, at Gondal City B Division police station.Rajput is accused of siphoning off more than Rs 1.9 crore worth of cumin. Patel, who is from Mehsana, stated that the company runs a cumin processing unit at the Jamvadi GIDC estate in Gondal, which has been managed by Rajput for the past 12 years. According to the FIR, on March 12, 2025, during an audit by the company’s accounts department, discrepancies were noticed in cumin stock records from the Gondal unit. When cross-checking with stock data provided by Rajput, significant variance emerged. Further investigation showed that between 2023 and 2025, Rajput allegedly diverted 6,472 bags of cumin, 2.59 lakh kg, worth an estimated Rs 1.90 crore. Patel further alleged that Rajput issued a written acknowledgement (lot receipt) for only Rs 98 lakh, while taking the remaining Rs 93 lakh worth of stock. The fraud was committed by illegally diverting the stock without the company’s knowledge.
